In July 2026, we pressure-washed the concrete driveway, sidewalk, and curb at a residential home in Canton, GA. The surfaces had picked up rust staining and general dirt buildup, both common on concrete that sits a season or two without a wash in the Georgia heat and humidity.

Pressure Washing Rust-Stained Concrete in Canton, GA

We worked through the job in order:

  1. Rust pre-treatment on the affected spots
  2. Overlapping surface-cleaner passes across the driveway
  3. A separate pass on the sidewalk
  4. The curb line across the full frontage

Concrete Driveway Cleaning with Rust Pre-Treatment

The driveway got the main attention. Before running the surface cleaner, we pre-treated the rust spots with a rust-releasing agent and let it dwell. Rust on concrete comes from iron particles in the soil or from metal objects sitting on the slab over time, and it's the pre-treat step that actually lifts it, not the pressure alone. From there, the surface cleaner went across the full slab, pulling grime out evenly and avoiding the striping you get from a single-wand pass.

Concrete Sidewalk Cleaning Along the Driveway

The concrete sidewalk ran alongside the driveway, so we treated it as its own pass to make sure the edges and joints got full coverage rather than catching spillover from the driveway pass.

Curb Cleaning Across the Full Frontage

The before photos show the rust and dirt condition on the curb clearly. This was one of the dirtier curbs we've seen on a Canton residential call. Curb cleaning often gets skipped because it's not visible from the front door, but it's the first thing visible from the street, and it holds onto organic staining and tire dust year-round. We cleaned the full curb line at low enough pressure to clear the staining without disturbing the asphalt edge.

The Results: Rust-Free, Even Concrete

The concrete cleaned up well across all three surfaces, and the rust staining came up cleanly from both the slab and the curb face. That's the payoff of pairing the right pre-treatment with a surface cleaner instead of relying on pressure alone.
